    Supporting pipe risers subject to thermal expansion and contraction in hi-rise HVAC Systems has presented tremendous problems to the Design Engineer.

    Standard carbon steel piping expands or contracts at a rate of 0.8” (20 mm) per 100ft (30.5 m) per 100°F (37.8°C), so pipe growth of 5” (127 mm) in tall hi-rise structures is common.
